Aranya Agosh, Shoonya’s debut project in the form of an intimate experiential retreat is an ongoing effort towards creating and curating experiences and opportunities to kindle the elements of Shoonya.
A significant part of this effort is to cultivate an environment that ignites the spirit of exploration and offers avenues for self-discovery. Through carefully crafted spaces and activities, we invite you to:
As you enter Aranya Agosh, you’ll find yourself on the Miyawaki Walkway that winds past flower beds spilling colour, several native trees, shrubs, and ground-covering herbs. Following the tenets of Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki, the Miyawaki Walkway is a humble display of Sajal’s dreams.
Nestled along this path are inviting sitting spots, perched atop uniquely designed underground rainwater harvesting tanks – one of the many impressions of a man’s dream of co-existing with nature and other lives for mutual prosperity.
The first gorgeous sitting spot is right at the entrance, serving as a cozy bonfire area or a little ‘chit-chat’ corner for friendly conversations with passing villagers.
Walk a little further and you’ll find the equally charming second spot which is surrounded by an arc-shaped pond. We like to call it ‘Sajal’s Arc’. Here, four sturdy wooden logs serve as seating, complemented by a sizable tabletop that doubles as the lid of a massive tank beneath.
The serene walkway leads to the rustic yet casually elegant Ivy Coupe room nestled on the ground floor of the Ivy Cottage. This cozy accommodation, one of three options at our property, provides a perfect retreat for couples with young ones or a trio.
An amalgamation of Panchtatva- this step offers multiple tranquil spots to bask in the warmth of good food and the pleasure of living. The different spots denote the 5 elements of the Universe: नभ (Space), जल (Water), अग्नि (Fire), क्षिति (Earth), and वायु (Air).
Climb the spiral to welcome the morning sun. Mesmerize yourself with the sight of majestic snow peaks during golden hours. Witness the moonrise over misty hills, gaze at constellations in the night sky. Or simply relax high above, savoring your favorite drink with a cherished companion amidst the beauty of nature and community.
A symbol to inspire human efforts towards reviving the natural water sources critical for healthy biodiversity, including human lives. A tranquil oasis in the making, beckoning the birds of Mukteshwar.
The word ‘sacred’ has been attached to this oasis taking inspiration from the book and movie, Dune (we would love to tell you more about it when you are here).
Built by the meticulous lifting, chiseling, and hammering of the mighty rocks and stones, the SunFire Lounge is the perfect spot to bask in the sun, sit by the fire and share the warmth of togetherness.
A handmade cliff built with the inspiration drawn from the rocky slopes of ‘Chauli ki Jali’- the famous sunset point of Mukteshwar.
Perched atop rests a solitary stone seat adorned by the cascading branches of weeping willow trees, with gentle streams of water flowing below.
Nestled beneath the Floating Crest, two canopies await with inviting swings, offering an opportunity for airborne relaxation and rejuvenating deep breaths.

The other end of Aranya Agosh descends to the Mrida, set to become the epicentre of Shoonya’s soil conservation project. A walk down this long mountain step reveals the majestic panorama of the Himalayan peaks—Trishul, Nanda Devi, and Panchachuli—stretching uninterrupted.
At the forefront of this new expansion, nestled amidst apple orchards, is the Mrida Cottage, featuring a Twin Suite on the ground floor paired with the visionary communal sanctuary, Kriti, perched above.
A walk further through the soil conservation patch takes you to the Fire & Feast pod, a traditional hut to indulge in the folk culinary experiences amidst the tranquil surroundings of Letibunga.
A space to share the joy of Creation – designed for individuals or intimate groups to foster their thoughts, cultivate their ideas, and bring them to reality.
An upcoming hideaway to bring good food, laughter, culture and conversation together in a delightful melting pot.
Being set up as an eat-in kitchen, this hut aspires to house the festivity around the traditional wood-fire cooking.
