Our stay at Shoonya was absolute perfection. The property is thoughtfully designed, offering a serene, peaceful atmosphere that’s ideal for unwinding in the mountains. A special thanks to RK and Mahima, who took care of every detail—having everything on hand, from toiletries to basic medicines, made our trip completely hassle-free. The food was undoubtedly the highlight of our stay. Bhawan bhaiya served every meal fresh and delicious that felt comforting and wonderfully homemade. We stayed at Shoonya recently and I’ve been meaning to write this since we got back. It’s a small cottage stay in a Kumaoni village and honestly that’s the charm of it, nothing flashy, just quiet mornings, mountain air and a place that somehow feels like your own within a day. What stayed with us most is the people. Bhawan looked after us the whole time with a kind of warmth you don’t really find at hotels, never intrusive, always around when needed. And Girish ji’s food deserves its own review honestly. Simple, homely and so good that we planned our days around meals. He even taught me a few recipes. Shoonya is a beautiful escape from the city crowds, surrounded by breathtaking scenery and peaceful village life. What was meant to be a 2-day trip turned into an unforgettable 7-day stay The hospitality of Mahima and RK made the experience even more special. Waking up to stunning Himalayan views overlooking the apple orchards and enjoying the delicious food prepared by the chef made every day memorable. If you’re looking to disconnect from the chaos, experience the warmth of wonderful people, and immerse yourself in nature, I can’t recommend Shoonya enough. 10/10 – I’ll definitely be back! Our family of four stayed in the Ivy Quad room—a beautifully designed duplex with a double bed on each level—and it was one of the most memorable stays we've ever had. Every aspect of Shoonya has been thoughtfully curated. From torches and walking sticks for evening strolls, umbrellas for unexpected rain, a well-stocked medicine box with clear instructions, heated beds, and impeccable cleanliness, every little detail reflects genuine care and attention. With only 5–6 rooms spread across half an acre, the property feels incredibly peaceful, with plenty of open spaces to relax, unwind, and explore. Shoonya is much more than a place to stay—it's an experience. We walked through the village, passing cabbage, apple, pear, and walnut farms all the way to the local primary school. The villagers warmly welcomed us for tea, and those simple interactions became some of our favorite memories. There is so much to do at the property that I would strongly recommend staying at least three nights to truly embrace the slow, mindful pace of life that Shoonya encourages. Mahima and RK, the owners, are among the warmest and most humble hosts we've met. They genuinely go out of their way to make every guest feel at home. Bhawan, the caretaker, Girish, the chef, and the entire team are courteous, professional, and exceptionally hospitable. My elderly parents were especially impressed—not just by the hospitality, but by the thoughtfully curated menu and the outstanding food. They said it was unlike anything they had experienced before. We're already planning to return, this time with a larger group, and hope to book the entire property so our loved ones can experience the magic of Shoonya.
